چکیده
The zero-waste city challenge of the modern society is inevitably addressed to development model’s waste-to-energy. In this work, carob waste, largely used in agro-industrial sector for sugar extraction or locust beangum (LBG) production, considered as feedstock slow pyrolysis process. According Food and Agriculture Organization United Nations (FAO), 2012, world production carobs was ca. 160,000 tons, mainly concentrated Mediterranean area (Spain, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Greece). To evaluate biomass composition, at first, waste subjected thermo-gravimetric analysis. high content fixed carbon suggests that are a plausible candidate conversion biochar particles. thermal degradation proceeds by four different steps related water volatile substances’ removal, hemicellulose, lignin cellulose degradation, decomposition. Considering this, carried out three temperatures, specifically, 280, 340, 400 °C, obtained products were characterized. Varying processing temperature, proportion individual products’ changes with reduction solid phase an increase liquid gas phases, temperature. results suggest can be suitable rather than fuels’ recovery.

Production and characterization of Biochar from Various Biomass materials By slow Pyrolysis
Biochar is the carbonaceous solid product of biomass pyrolysis which can be used as chemical feedstock for various purposes such as energy production, and adsorption of pollutants. In particular, application of biochar to the soil is gaining greater interests, which can reduce fertilizer consumption, increase crop yields, and sequestrate carbon. This study compares the characteristics of biocha...
متن کاملEstimating Profitability of Two Biochar Production Scenarios: Slow Pyrolysis vs. Fast Pyrolysis
We estimate the profitability of producing biochar from crop residue (corn stover) for two scenarios. The first employs slow pyrolysis to generate biochar and pyrolysis gas and has the advantage of high yields of char (as much as 40 wt-%) but the disadvantage of producing a relatively low-value energy product (pyrolysis gas of modest heating value). The second scenario employs fast pyrolysis to...
متن کاملCharacterization of Biochar Obtained by Co-Pyrolysis of Waste Newspaper with High-Density Polyethylene
The pyrolysis of waste newspaper (WP) and co-pyrolysis of waste newspaper with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) (1:1 wt%) were carried out in a quartz tube at 500 °C to obtain biochars. The biochars were characterized in detail by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TG), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental analysis,...
متن کاملCharacterisation of products from pyrolysis of waste sludges
The pyrolysis of waste sludges was investigated using thermogravimetry/mass spectrometry (TG/MS) and a fixed-bed reactor. Two types of sludge were used, namely mixed sludge and oil sludge. In TGA/MS measurements, two degradation steps were observed. Degradation of organic structures, in sludge took place in the first step, while inorganic materials in sludge were mainly decomposed in a second s...
متن کاملPyrolysis Process and Characteristics of Products from Sawdust Briquettes
The pyrolysis of briquettes made from biomass is an available and economic technological route for the production of briquette charcoal, but by-products (tar and gas) cannot be brought into full utilization, leading to the waste of resources and the addition of environmental concerns. Temperature is the most important parameter that affects the distributions and properties of briquette charcoal...
